Sushi Oaks in Newbury Park

Sushi Oaks? More like Sushi Choked. Food was great, service was beyond bad. They ignored us so much I wondered if I got up and left would they even notice.

Amazing as always. Best sushi in the Conejo Valley.

Checked Google said the place was open until 9:30. I get here at 8:15 after driving all the way from Simi Valley and the waitress says the place is closed even though it's full of people. Needless to say I'm pretty steamed about wasting my time driving all this way for nothing!

Great local sushi! We've been coming here at least once a month for 15 years. Always great, perfectly fresh sashimi, and delicious everything. The soft shell crab is sublime... order it right when you sit down before they run out!

Best salmon!! Amaebi, Olympic roll, Japanese scallops, toro when they have it... Fresh and consistent.

This place is by far the most amazing sushi spot in cali!

This is a hidden gem of sorts. They have a lunch combo which includes a bowl of ramen, edamame and spicy tuna sushi (could not remember if it was 4 or 6 pieces, but they were large) for only 9.95. The ramen is lighter tasting compared to places like Daikokuya, Santouka, etc, so it is something to keep in mind. The spicy tuna sushi is pretty crazy because it is so large and would likely cost $4-$5 (i.e., the ramen would be only $4-5).The combo isn't available for dinner, so just something to keep in mind. Like all things in this area, there is a giant lot to park in. Service is great, always seems to have seating during lunch and the food is solid.

Terrible services... asked me to wait outside because I ordered a take out order. Albeit, I was seated and it was hot outside. Just sad... maybe it’s my color.

Great sushi, the halibut with the lime and the salty zesty thing is just outstanding. Don't care for the Chef who mean mugs you! But maybe that's the shtick...who knows. I'll keep coming back but the moment this guy cracks a smile, I promise we're bumping it to full stars.

I don't 'do' sushi, but was with friends who do. I had the chicken teriyaki and it was delicious, really really good. I'll be back!

Excellent Sushi but closed to often Sunday Monday closed Sapporo Roll and Spicy McGuire roll BOMB!

Food is consistently good as if you had order it the same day. Other places the servings vary quite a bit, not this place. Food is really tasty and fish high quality

Good sushi and fun local restaurant

Great service. Quick food. Make sure that what you want is on the menu for however you are getting your food. Dine in, carry out, and ordered to go all have different menus. Couldn't get the lunch special because I wanted to take it with me. Ended up getting some random roll that tastes okay, but it's a lot less food for a lot more money. I spent almost twice what I meant to, here. Probably won't be coming back.

Service is good, food is delicious. The spicy baked crab hand roll w/ soy paper was really good.

Wonderful sushi and service. The fish is always very fresh and flavorful. I am not a "roll person" myself, but when my dining companions order them and I sample, they are always fresh, creative, and quite large.

Sushi Oaks is indeed the BEST around. I have been a customer for 20 years. I travel for my job and eat sushi all over so my rating is substantially quantified! The owner and staff are so nice and so dedicated. The owner is very thorough in his approach with everything which comes through in every fresh dish that is served!

The difference between a good restaurant and a great restaurant are in the small details. The hot green tea was a blend with toasted brown rice and took me by pleasant surprise. The Philadelphia Roll portion was not only big, but had a smattering of raisins, nuts, and executed very distinctly from your usual strip mall sushi fare. We just had a quick lunch but can totally say this place is a neighborhood gem. My only regret is that I don't live closer for a quality sushi fix.

Best sushi/sashimi in the area, by far.

Easily the best sushi restaurant I've ever been to and sushi is my favorite food.. it's a 10/10 If you like spicy tuna get the red dragon with macquire sauce and I promise you won't be disappointed.
